Value City is a wholly owned subsidiary of Retail Ventures. Value City was founded in 1917 by Ephraim Schottenstein who was a voyageur. The company is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio where the very first store was opened. Value City is a department store chain. The chain sells all the products at the prices, lower than those suggested by manufacturer. The company is affiliated with Value City Furniture that is the designer and manufacturer of home furnishings such as bedroom and dining room furniture, bed linen and related accessories, etc. Value City Furniture was founded in 1948 and bases its operations mainly on the East Coast.

Value City Furniture has hundreds of stores there.
