First of all, I am not "Wowed" with Value City Furniture. The family room set I ordered (the sofa, loveseat chair and ottoman) all had 4 different availability dates. That alone is frustrating. I ordered the complete set on May 28, 2008...I am still waiting for 2 more of the 4 total pieces to be available. The last piece will not be available until July 2 when everything was supposed to be ready to go by June 17....I think it's a bit ridiculous to have to wait over a month to get furniture pieces that Value City itself manufactures.

I am also somewhat dissatisfied because the throw pillows do not match…they aren't the same fabric dye lot, yet they are supposed to sit on the same couch together... it looks horrible. It’s frustrating because I bought the American Signature line that the store offers which is supposed to be better quality.

I realize that Value City Furniture is aimed toward more budget-conscious people, but money is not free and I expect excellent service and quality products, along with matching fabrics when I make a major purchase like furniture. Although I bought from Value City, the American Signature line is more mid-priced when compared with other brands, and I feel I am not getting what I paid for.

I did my research on this website before buying from Value City…I DIDN’T fall for the fabric protection plan thanks to the recommendation of many reviews on this site. Even though the sales associate really tried hard to get me to buy $200 worth of extra fabric protection, I ended up just buying my own spray protector myself.

In all honesty, I initially felt comfortable buying from Value City Furniture because I bought my mattress set there years ago and I love it, yet with this entire family room set, I am very frustrated and somewhat dissatisfied with the fabric color and availability delays. Buyers Proceed with Caution!

Hello Sorry I shopped at Value Cith,

I am sorry to learn that you too are having the same experience me and my husband did.

I ended up having a long and drawn-out battle to get our furniture. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to help resolve this issue. I suggest that you do the same.

Value City also conveniently makes it difficult to locate the phone number for Corporate Customer Service. I tried working directly with the Store Manager and didn't get anywhere. When I asked for the Corporate number, The store told me all issues had to be handled at the store level.

So I went online and couldn't find the Customer Service number, but only a number for the Credit Company for VCF. I called their Credit Card line and pretended I mis-dialed and asked for the "correct" Corporate Customer Service number.

I suspect you won't have much luck with the management staff. First file a complaint with BBB and then contact VCF corporate office.

Once I reached the corporate office, only then did I get treated with respect. The corporate Customer Service number is 1-614-221-9200.

Good Luck and let me know what happens! :-)

I ordered my furniture the end of March and here it is almost June and still no furniture. First, the sales lady assured me that I would not go through this problems because I shared with her that I did not want to by from VC because my sister had this same problem about 15 years ago. She assured me that I would not have that same problem and that the store of aware of the problem and had corrected it. Skectical, but I ordered anyways. She gave me one date and the day before they were suppose to show up someone from the store called to tell me they would not deliver the furniture for three weeks after the orginal date. I called to question about that. I was told that I should have never been told that date because it was never scheduled for that date. When They finally delivered the LR furniture that table was broken and the delivery guys were planning to leave it that way even though he knew it was broken. Good thing I was paying attention and checked behind him. I'm still waiting for DR furniture. I lady called my house three time in one evening and change the date. Yesterday she call twice to change the date. This is a nightmare. I recommend that no one every buy furniture from this store. It is not fair that you spend your money and not be satified. I am so mad I can't believe this. I have a meeting with the district manager tomorrow. But i don't think he will be much of any help. I am not going to stop here. I plan on going to the news station to see if they can get answers.

It's me again. I am informed about my purchases. I am upset because I was promised to have the items way before I received them. Just to stress how horrible the wait-time is, I did end up getting all the furniture pieces, but not until the middle of Sept...so like you..I did wait about 4 months. That is a horrible wait-time. I am a reasonable person, but I was upset that they promised the items way earlier from the actual delivery.

Moving on to the spray protector "issue". I don't know about you, but I'm not a savage and I don't eat, drink, etc. on my family room or living room furniture. Therefore, there was no need to buy $200 worth of stain protector when I can spray it on myself to repel basic everyday wear. Plus, other reviews on this site said to not buy this protection plan. If I had pets or a bunch of kids, I can see your point on the fabric protection, but it was not needed for me and husband's lifestyle right now.

Maybe we expect too much from this company. I expect my items to arrive in a reasonable time from when they are promised, as I also expect my pieces to match and hold-up well. Me and my husband work hard for our money and we pay everything in cash (meaning we don't finance anything..furniture, cars, college etc), and have no debt. We are only in our mid 20s and are very successful people. We make smart financial decisions, and we didn't make it to where we are today by being stupid, completely uniformed consumers. Please don't suggest that we have no idea what we are talking about.

I work in the marketing field, so maybe you need an education on good business practices, ethics, company image, and sales gimmicks (like the stain protector) to understand my case.

Wow are you uninformed for someone who "researched" their purchase. First of all, 3 weeks is not a long time to wait for furniture. Most stores take at least 6-8 weeks to deliver and want you to pay up front. As far as fabric protection is concerned, your research on this seems to be out of date too. Buying a can of "spray on" protectant will give you about 2-4 weeks worth of protection. IT WEARS OFF EVERYTIME YOU SIT ON THE FURNITURE. You have to keep purchasing and reapplying this "old fashioned" spray on stuff. Today's fabric protection (made by companies like Dupont/Teflon and Stainsafe) only needs to be applied ONE TIME as it's not just topically applied but forms a molecular bond around your fabric that won't wear off. So spend $150-$250 for 5, 7, or 10 years of protection... or you can keep spending $20-$30 for a can of "Scotchguard" every couple of months to get the same protection. Wow... good job... you really saved some money!!! Oh, wait... what's $25 times 40??? I guess you didn't.

If you think waiting a mere 1 month for you furniture is bad, try going to other furniture places and see how long it's going to take! You'll be sitting on the floor like I did for 4 months!! Go cry elsewhere, or better yet, take your money back and go somewhere else!
